Some stoves are easy to clean and don't make much of a mess. Other
stoves are a bear to clean and are impossible to avoid a mess on the
hearth pad around the stove. I've actually heard one fellow who
changed models (from the same manufacturer) because of the cleaning
issue.
Our stove is a bear to clean and very messy. Routine emptying of the
ashes is not a problem. With good quality pellets, you only have to
empty the ash pan about once per ton burned.
