One key thing to look at is GPM flow rate of the pump doing the work and the cylinder's size (Bore). A hand jack can produce lots of force, but little work....

It just blows my mind to here people say they pay $0.05 per kwh. I pay close to $0.15 per kwh here in Vermont. Even 15 years ago it was over a dime a kwh....
