Hey to all you Web Services Toolkits implementers out there!

We are planning a 4-day Windows Communications Foundation (WCF, a.k.a Indigo) Interop Plug-fest on Monday November 7, 2005 to Thursday November 10, 2005 at Microsoft Redmond campus.

The WCF (Indigo) Interop Plug-fest is an ad-hoc, open forum for implementers of various Web Services protocols to meet with engineers from the WCF(Indigo) team and test interoperability with the upcoming release.

Please reply to kirillg@... and jthelin@... introducing your implementation if you’re interested in attending.

Scenarios drafts as well as pointers to test endpoints are available online - http://mssoapinterop.org/ilab/wcfinteroplab.htm . We recommend you to join the WS-Builders@yahoogroups.com discussion group and use it for questions around scenarios documents and WCF(Indigo) interoperability.

Here is an invite with further logistics info: http://mssoapinterop.org/ilab/WCFInteropPlugFest_invite.doc

Thank you and we hope to see you November 7th !

Kirill,
Thanks for the notice of your interop endpoints.  IBM has endpoints up for most of WS-* specifications you mentioned covering the scenarios as specified in the interop workshop's scenario documents.  The endpoints should cover the full range of features specified in those scenario documents and not just the subset your version of the scenario documents mention.  Based on the activity logs they seem to be widely used and appear to be quite useful to the WS community.  We welcome MSFT's efforts to join this adhoc/off-line testing process and hope you keep your endpoint up indefinitely as we hope to.  Please see the respective WS-* Yahoo group for the URL of the endpoint of interest - or feel free to contact me at dug@... if you're unable to locate the URL.
thanks
-Doug

India, the dominant player in outsourcing touted as the “back office of the world,” would soon have to contend with a third-world rival—the Philippines.

A highly skilled English-speaking labor force. A reliable telecommunications infrastructure. Low cost of qualified personnel. These are some significant reasons for choosing India or the Philippines for outsourcing support....>>

just do a google on WSDL, and u will get the WSDL spec as the first match.
Thats pretty. good one. Obviously this assumes that you have some
basics of web services set right. There are plenty of articles on web
services put up on developerworks[developerworks.ibm.com], or
OTN[http://www.oracle.com/technology/index.html]

Thanks Doug,

It’s good to hear about IBM’s continuing interest in WS-* interop testing.

You seem to have misunderstood my mail – this is an invite to a F2F meeting - the Windows Communication Foundation (aka Indigo) interop *plug-fest* we will hold in Redmond on November 7th – 10th.

The event is focused on the product-level interop with WCF. Unlike the previous WS-* Workshops, this event is not focused on getting feedback for the WS-* specs.  Based on our experience with soapbuilders, such F2F events are super-effective at advancing interoperability between products.

We are encouraged by the wide support from the WS-* community for this plug-fest, and we look forward to IBM joining us at the F2F in November.

I understood - just wanted to make sure you, and others, were aware of IBM's
full-scenario endpoints - which are there for continued full spec interop testing
and not just for 'feedback' on the specs as you suggest below.

NxM full spec interop events yes.  A '1xM subset of the spec' event is something
different isn't it?  :-)

I can't speak to whether or not IBM will participate in the event.

Doug,

We love interop face-to-face events of all kinds. Lack of interop events is what hurts.

Hi,

I want to know where is the url of the main wsdl stored in the uddi
registry.

For ex: suppose we have main.wsdl which imports porttypes.wsdl
Now portType tModels will store the url of porttypes.wsdl in the
overviewURl.
I want to know where is url of main.wsdl stored in the uddi registry?

I could not find this information in the tech note.

Thanks,

The technical note doesn't typically capture the URL of the service WSDL if the service WSDL is different from the binding WSDL. But it does capture the service information -- the access point in the bindingTemplate contains the soap:address information.

If can often find the service WSDL by appending ?wsdl to the access point.

Yes the technical note doesn't typically capture the URL of the
service WSDL, but some registries like 'systinet' maintain the
location of wsdl/service url

So I wanted to know where do they store the url. Do they create a
tModel in the service for storing the service url? Or maintain the
proprietary data.

Thanks,
Ashwini

What i want to know is can we rely completely on the access point in
the bindingTemplate that contains the soap:address information.

Does it support the wsdl extensions like routing info...

Thanks,
Ashwini

Hi,

Currently we are using wsdl4j for parsing the wsdl. But wsdl4J does not
have support for JMS.
So we are thinking of using wsif. Can we use wsif as extension to
wsdl4j.

Can we reuse the code which use wsdl4j and use wsif just for the
extensions? [Like for jms support]

Where can I get the detailed information of using wsif for parsing the
wsdl.

Thanks,
Unmesh

WSIF is not a WSDL parser. Its a framework for invoking web services.
What did you mean when you say that WSDL4J does not have support for JMS ?
Do you mean to say that you have provided wsif jms bindings for the
operations and they are not available in the parsed representation of
the WSDL ?

Yes you are right. WSIF is a framework for invoking web services.
But I referred to
http://ws.apache.org/wsif/providers/wsdl_extensions/jms_extension.html
  [See the overview section]
and thought that using WSIFUtils.readWSDL we can also parse the wsdl.

WSDL4J does not support the JMS extensions. So I was thinking whether
I could use wsif for parsing the wsdl even with JMS extensions

I am new to WSIF. So wanted to know can I use WSIF also for parsing
wsdl with JMS transport.

Thanks,
Ashwini

I went back and read the TN (I suggest you do too).

The @URLType (in v2) or the @useType (in v3) will tell you how the accessPoint is being used. Typically, it points to the service endpoint. (It is a common convention to enable access to the WSDL file by appending ?wsdl to the end of the endpoint URL, but you cannot count on it. Some companies may not want to publish their WSDLs in such an uncontrolled and non-secure manner, and not all web services platforms support the convention.)

The uddi:accessPoint might also point to the service WSDL file, in which case URLType="other".

See Appendix A in the "Using WSDL with a UDDI Registry v2" technical note:
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/uddi-spec/doc/tn/uddi-spec-tc-tn-wsdl-v202-20040631.htm#_Toc76437803

Buy/Sell Tips- Why reply first before contact with anyone?
Dear VoIP Professionals,

Some times we just contact with someone without reply of his message. There are very important reasons to reply before contact with anyone. Some of those are:

1. Your Party may forget you.

2. If he forget, he can contact with you from your reply of his message.

3. He may contact with you later when he needs immediately or if he think he can deal with you.

4. Any other related party can contact with you from your reply.

So, MUST reply before contact with anyone.

Thanking You

Im trying to do WSDL first development of a client and a server, the
server will be SOAP::Lite and the client will be .NET. But i get
problems from .NET when i try and consume the following WSDL.

http://ftp.mediaburst.com/ben/wsdl/SearchService.wsdl

The problem is with the arrays in the included types.wsdl(Link below)
but i dont know whats wrong with them, i have tried two different
types of array and neither work.

http://ftp.mediaburst.com/ben/wsdl/Types.wsdl

Do you guys know if .NET works with rpc style encoded bindings?

The error i get is also below for completeness.

Thanks
Ben Crinion

.NET does support RPC/encoded.

Two suggestions:

- consolidate your two WSDL files -- put the <types> section inline the service WSDL.
- when using RPC/encoded, you should define your arrays using soapenc:array, e.g.,

<complexType name="ArrayOfString">
<complexContent>
<restriction base="soapenc:Array">
<attribute ref="soapenc:arrayType"
wsdl:arrayType="string[]"/>
</restriction>
</complexContent>
</complexType>

First of all, thanks for your help, i have been trying different
newsgroups and mailing lists for days but i still have a problem with
your suggestion.

Putting the types inline does not seem to fix the problem.

If i change the array definition to the one suggested below but
substitute the string type for my SimpleCustomer makes .net expect an
array of strings.

I have posted the updated wsdl file at
http://ftp.mediaburst.com/ben/wsdl/searchservice.wsdl.

Which namespace does the definition need to be in?

Thanks
Ben

While IBM will not be attending this event I'd like to remind people of IBM's interop endpoints (listed at:  http://wsi.alphaworks.ibm.com:8080/interop/index.html ) which supports the full interop scenario documents as specified by the specific interop workshop event.  If anyone runs into any problems with these endpoints please drop me a note.
thanks

[wsdl] Re: [soapbuilders] Indigo / Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) Interop Plug-fest - 7-10 Nov 2005

Please see the respective WS-* Yahoo group for the URL of the endpoint of interest - or feel free to contact me at dug@... if you're unable to locate the URL.

thanks

-Doug

[soapbuilders] Indigo / Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) Interop Plug-fest - 7-10 Nov 2005

Please reply to
kirillg@... and jthelin@... introducing your implementation if you’re interested in attending.

Scenarios drafts as well as pointers to test endpoints are available online -
http://mssoapinterop.org/ilab/wcfinteroplab.htm . We recommend you to join the WS-Builders@yahoogroups.com discussion group and use it for questions around scenarios documents and WCF(Indigo) interoperability.

Here is an invite with further logistics info:
http://mssoapinterop.org/ilab/WCFInteropPlugFest_invite.doc

Thank you and we hope to see you November 7th !

I havent ever used .NET but cant we change the style to doc/literal
here and still maintain the schema style list instead of SOAP arrays?

Replace the string[] with your type. I was just giving you the basic structure of how to compose a soapenc:Array type. When using SOAP encoding, you should define your arrays as a restriction of the soapenc:Array type.

WS-I disallows use of SOAP encoding entirely, but most SOAP implementations support the full SOAP specification, not just the WS-I basic profile.

For best interoperability, I suggest you switch to document/literal style using the "wrapped" convention.  See my blog for an explanation of the "wrapped" convention.
http://atmanes.blogspot.com/2005/03/wrapped-documentliteral-convention.html.
