Dear friends,

Best greetings from Tokyo, where things are always moving fast!

I am currently coordinating a study about energy in Peru 2018. It is fascinating to see how countries that are growing fast today (like Peru in the last few years, at close to 9% per annum) are not ready for such growth, and the infrastructure has serious limitations, from electricity to roads.

Kindly take a few minutes and fill out the new study code "Peru" after you register in the following web page, please:

There is no need to complete all sections, and only answer those questions that interest you most, please. Notice that the dealine is next week and thus you have a complete weekend to chek this out, and you will get the results if you fill out some questions!

Let me know if you have any questions and/or problems (contact me directly: jose_cordeiro@...) and thank you so much for your time in this important study about the future of Peru, which has many similarities and applications to the situation in some other places.

     Energetically yours,
La vie est belle!

Dear transhumanist friends,

I am currently coordinating a 2030 Energy Delphi and I would love you to take a few minutes to go over the survey. It is a fascinating study and those who complete at least some of the answers will receive copies of the final report. So please, go quickly over the questionnaire and let me know what you think:

The questionnaire is in both English and Spanish, and you are welcome to answer as many questions as you feel you know something about.

Thank you very much in advance and I am looking forward to all your comments. Please, also circulate it among people who might be interested, and keep in mind that the deadline is June 27.

Dear transhumanist friends,

Just to start a great new year, the "Chosun Ilbo" ("Korean Daily", the largest newspaper in Korea, with a circulation of 2.5 million copies, much more than The New York Times or The Wall Street Journal) has published an interview about transhumanism, which has a very nice drawing depicting the continuous evolution of humankind, from humans to cyborgs to posthumans (angels and/or devils?:-) and can be seen here:

The interview appeared on a front page, full page format, on January 1, 2007. The Korean reporter who interviewed me came specially all the way to Caracas, Venezuela, and this shows how interested they are about such issues in Korea. If you don't understand Korean, you can try a free Internet on-line translator like Altavista Babelfish, even if the translations are still not too good (for example, my last name gets translated as "grand nose"... as opposed to "big brain":-)

Hopefully, soon, once we are posthumans, we will not need external translators. In the meantime, we will need some other enhancements...

And now from Korea to Japan. A few days ago, another newsreporter from the Japanese "Mainichi Shimbun" (one of the largest newspapers in the world, with a daily circulation of 4 million copies in the morning and 2 million copies in the evening) has interviewed me and I will keep you posted once it appears. Also, since I am moving to Japan next Summer in order to work in the most prestigious development center in Asia, there will be plenty of other opportunities for more interviews and articles. If transhumanism is really going to move into the mainstream, we have to be more mainstream and leave behind the freaky and fringe environments.

After publishing a book about transhumanism in Korean last year, I will be now targeting the Japanese and Chinese markets, so, If you have any good ideas about them please write to me in private: jose_cordeiro@.... I will be very happy and thankful for any feedback:-)

     Once again, have a very happy 2007, 2070, 2700, 7200...

Hi there,

I am SAM, an Iraqi refugee living in Lebanon at the moment; I have spent the
last 10 years of my life as a refugee registered with the UNHCR in Beirut. The
last 4 years, I have spent as an activist for peace and human rights (especially
refugees and asylum seekers) on the Internet; I'm also books author and ebooks
publisher. I have launched many campaigns to improve our situation as refugees
in Lebanon and hopefully bring more understanding to our problems worldwide. I
helped make many changes and improvements at the UNHCR office in Beirut; I used
the Internet as the field for my activities (you can read more about that in my
free ebook 'MY CAMPAIGNS'). All my ebooks are free and could be download from my
sites.

This is my newest campaign, it's about the illegal and humiliating actions of
the UNHCR, who using photos of refugees as banners and human-buttons to collect
money. This is an abuse of the dignity and humanity of the refugees and must
stop immediately and a clear public apology present by The United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees. My friends, I am talking about the pictures you can
see here:

Where you can read the rest of this message as web page.

Also you can read my new campaign 'Urgent, we need smile' here:

For more info about UNHCR and life of refugees you can read my free ebooks. I
invite you as fellow humans and members of the world community to support my
campaign by reading my article on my site and see the human-buttons. The
campaign is to support and improve the UNHCR http://www.unhcr.ch especially
after the last scandals in the UN and UNHCR, just for example:

The refugees allege that UNHCR staff is selling most of the food items they are
supposed to be supplied.
"They aren't supplying sufficient food to us because they sell most of the food
items," they allege: http://allafrica.com/stories/200503140214.html
Here is another example: Burmese Refugees Withdraw Protest Against UNHCR

"We make demonstration and fast because the UNHCR office in Cairo did nothing

Together we will build better world.

Held on August 17-19, some of the most important speakers of the transhumanist scene will be coming together to hold presentations on varying subjects. This is an event you don't want to miss - and since not many of you have a chance to come to Finland to join it in flesh, here's a recap of the ways you can participate virtually.

This year the theme is Emerging Technologies of Human Enhancement and we'll be looking at recent and ongoing technological developments and discussing associated ethical and philosophical questions. Some of our speakers are William Sims Bainbridge, Aubrey de Grey, Nick Bostrom, James Hughes and Natasha Vita-More.
WEBCAST. There will be an online streaming video directly from the conference. Watch each of the speakers in real time! Detailed instructions on this can be found at http://www.transhumanismi.org/tv06/stream.php . You can also find the conference program at http://www.transhumanismi.org/tv06/program.php ; it's given in Finnish time, UTC+3.

STATIC WEBCAST. In case you miss your favorite presentation or otherwise can't access the live stream. As time allows, saved video files will be made available for regular HTTP download shortly after the presentations. Other extra material, like slideshow files from the speeches, will also be made available on the TransVision website. For more information on this, watch http://www.transhumanismi.org/tv06/virtua.php .

VIRTUAL DISCUSSION. There are two ways to discuss the event in real time together with other people from around the world. The official TransVision IRC channel is #transvision at IRCNet, accessible through an IRC client or alternatively through the webchat interface at http://webchat.xs4all.nl/index.php . The IRC room will also share its chat space with an area in the Second Life virtual environment - anything said in either medium will also be relayed to the other. The Second Life environment can be found by booting up the SL client (download one at http://www.secondlife.com ), finding the "uvvy" region at its map and teleporting there. SL will have some extra features that the IRC space won't, including some slideshows and a possibility to watch the streaming video from there.

Regardless of the program used to access the chat space, it will be a fun way to follow and discuss the event in real time. People in the chat can submit questions to any of the speakers in the real event and have them relayed onwards, and any new files that get uploaded to the site will be announced to the chat ASAP. See http://www.uvvy.com/index.php/TransVision06_in_SL and http://www.transhumanismi.org/tv06/virtua.php for chat details.

WEBLOG. As announced earlier, http://community.livejournal.com/transvision06/ is TransVision's official weblog community. Information about the conference gets posted there, and we are encouraging all participants to post their TV experiences there afterwards. If you want to read detailed event reports after the fact, this is the place.

Dear transhumanist friends,

The year 2005 has been a relatively good year for the advancement of transhumanist ideas worldwide, and hopefully 2006 will be much better. We are in an accelerating process and things are just picking up speed. Please, don't forget to add your name to the growing list of transhumanists around the world:

All transhumanists in the planet have to work more actively if we really believe in our cause. Thus, if you are extropian, singularitarian, immortalist, cryonicist... or simply transhumanist... let's unite our efforts for a better world. Indeed, for a better universe and multiverse...

Sorry for missing so many other languages, but have a very happy 2006, 2060, 2600, 6200... forever...

     Transhumanistically yours,

La vie est belle!
