That was probably me, picked up a a 968 for $100 new in box. Was
received as a gift but they were not interested in it and put it up
for sale. Got it up and running and it's pretty cool

I'm negotiating with the owner to purchase his.  I've currently got a LaCrosse 2317 but the rain guage is a little flaky.  Sometime it works just fine but the last rain we had didn't budge it.  I know I could just replace it for around $40 but I would like to move up to something a tad better myself.

If I read correctly I should be able to unplug the LaCrosse and plug in the OS and WUHU should just keep going right?  Yeah, I'll stop it first but I don't think I need to do anything else do I?

Yes, it works very well and the change over is very simple.  Make sure the com port stays the same.  And if you had any offsets or bias added, be sure to take that out.

Hello everyone. For some reason, I am having problems with my wind chill readings on my station. I tried to use the override weather station settings for wind chill readings on the software, but they are still showing up as higher than the outside temperature readings on my site.  Please use the following link to see my Maple Grove Cemetery weather station values. http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=44622&MR=1

Thanks in advance for your help.

On my site, the temp is 26 and the windchill is 27.  I guess their calculator is not doing such a good job today.  I assume they calculate it there at WU.  Does anybody know?

Hey Chris,

For some reason the site does not update windchill as it does other
data, but if you refresh the page you will see the windchill update.

If you want to see what you are sending you can uncheck the "Only
Errors" box on the WUHU Log and scroll across until you find the
windchill data to compare to the data seen on the uploader. This won't
always match either if you are have enabled "Report only Average
Windspeed and Direction".

I had found the same thing a while back and was really quite bothered by
it until I figured it out.

Tom.

Thanks Tom. I'm glad to know I'm not going totally crazy :-). I wonder why they don't update the site with the rest of the rapid fire data. Are there other sites that do a better job of updating data like wind chill? Just curious.

Thanks

After you install it, it will give you a couple of choices. I chose the second one and configured the different locations myself, like to wunderground, CWOP, AWEKAS, etc. You'll have to create accounts at all these first.

You can run the WMR968 just fine with WUHU in the direct serial mode with no other software required.  That's the way I have mine set up.  I upload to WeatherUnderground, CWOP, and weatherforyou/pws/hamweather.  It does just fine for me (as long as my modem keeps working).  I don't have web pages or anything like that.

Good luck!

Hi, i want to setup alerts in WUHU, seems like an interesting feature
I have managed to send me a SMS (via a php script made for me to SMS) when my weatherstation detects a Wind gust above 50kph and is working fine, just that receive like 3 or 4 sms with the same info.

I put 50k as alert and 40 as reset, but will like to fine tune this for other parameters for example
1. Temp below 10C
2. Rain in 24hrs above 50mm

in this cases the value when temp is falling or ir rains it will trigger, but the condition will remain, for example 51mm, will this make to receive a lot of SMS ?? how is this configurable ???

the other, is same as this will like to receive a weather report with all parameters , not an alert but a programated action lets say every hour, is this possible ?

thanks

Norman,

You will notice next to each variable there is a < or >.

If it is a < variable, when the actual reading is less than your
setting, it will fire the action. The action will not fire again
until the "Reset" value has been reached.

So if it is low outdoor temp (<) is 5 degrees, with a reset of 15,
the action will fire once below 5, but will not fire again until the
temp goes back up to at least 15. This prevents the action from
happening all the time.

If you mess up your values and resets, the action will fire all the
time.

Its dependent on the make/model of the laptop, all of the newer Macs
(I believe 2005 & up) & a very select list of PC laptops contain the
accelerometer. My "newest" Mac laptop is 04 vintage & doesnt have one
& the antique Compaq I'm using for WUHU doesnt either:-( I approached
my sons school about setting one up there in the computer lab but I
have yet to hear back from them - I guess $5 or even free doesnt
interest them. Maybe if it were gubment handout they'd be interested!

I have no idea if my laptop has an accelerometer or not.  I'm afraid that if I were to upload vibrations via the laptop, it would signal an earthquake every spin cycle on the washing machine!

I approached a local school and they were very interested. It is the
same school that I help install a PWS at. I offered to pay the $5.00
for their sensor, so it will not cost the school anything. I will help
them set it up and work on the interactive demo for them.

Very strange. I kept getting FTP errors while trying to upload.
Rebooted computer and still got the same error. Shut computer down
completely and turned back on. Now it works fine.

Hello WuHu_Software.
I have been successfully running WuHu for several months, uploading to
WU. The program starts and runs great with no errors if I start it by double
clicking the icon on my desktop (Windows XP Prof.). However when I use
Windows Startup to automatically start it, it aborts. I get an error message
saying "Unable to locate Version information, aborting". At this point I can
still double click the desktop icon and it comes up normally.
Have you seen this before?
I'd like to feel assured that when I'm away during a power interuption that
the program will come back up okay when power is restored.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

The first thing I would do is to verify that the shortcut in your startup folder is pointing to the right program file.  If you right click on the icon and then click find target, it will show you what it's trying to start.

If that's not it, maybe one of the smart guys here can help.
