Subject: WUHU-Tweet Hashtags?
scarabdrowner
Send Email Send Email

Hi there.

I just attempted to add a #COwx hashtag to my WUHU-Tweet action, but it didn't
work. With the hashtag included, the tweet would not send. Without it, it sends
properly. I think the "#" is disliked by either WUHU or WUHU-Tweet.

Any confirmations of this bug? Workarounds? I'd to try use the ascii or unicode
codes to see if that will work instead, but I'm not sure quite how to use them
in an action.

I have not tried to add a # to a tweet but I'll try it a bit later.

Ok, I added a #test to the line and it worked fine.  It was the last thing on the line but it posted.

Odd. Here is the line I was trying to use that didn't post:

WUHU_Tweet.exe "%TimeHHMM% • Temp
(d=0)%[hourly_averages]average_outdoor_temperature_deg_F%F • Hum
(d=0)%[hourly_averages]average_outdoor_humidity%%% • Pres
%[hourly_averages]average_outdoor_relative_pressure_inhg% inHg and
%[hourly_rates_of_change]outdoor_relative_pressure_trend% • Wind
%[hourly_averages]average_outdoor_wind_direction_letters% @
(d=0)%[hourly_averages]average_outdoor_wind_speed_mph% MPH, Gusting to
(d=0)%OutdoorWindGustSpeedMPH% MPH • %OutdoorRain24HrIN%" Rain last 24hrs •
#COwx"

Did you count the number of characters before you add that?  Remember the 140 character limit.

If it's less than 140 then I don't know what could be the problem.  did you try just a #?

Yep, I checked the character count. If all numbers were in the 100's (only
likely for temps), I'd still have 9 characters left to use, after adding the " •
#COwx".

I have not yet tried just a "#" by itself yet, no.

It's working now, for some reason. I don't know what's different between this
time and the previous.

Grab the newest version from here.

The newest is .032.  It will work on windows 2000 up to Windows 7.  At least I believe it will work on 7 but I have never tried that.

The instructions say to unzip the Validater utility but the zip isn't in .032, only the needed exe.  Run that after you copy it to your folder and it should prompt you through getting your Twitter PIN.

If you have any problems let me know and I'll help.

Yeah, you don't have to send alerts.  Just use the "On Weather Update" to just send the current weather tweets.  Heath has made it so you can have an alert on almost anything but I just use a couple.  You could use just one.

Also in the manual the advanced code for using local airport mete data appears
to be exactly the same as the one without using it.
Not sure where you add the airport code.

You must have twittervb.dll in the same folder where you put WUHU_Tweet.exe

I'm sorry, version .032 doesn't seem to have the dll.  Grab version .030 and pull it out of there.  I'll update the other one soon.

Yes it was in the validater but there's no reason to run the setup.

You should have everything you need in the .032 file.  You have to run the Validate program to get your PIN then you should be good to go if you follow the instructions in either the Readme doc in the zip or John's instructions.

Oops, that's wrong.  .032 does have it but .030 doesn't, at least in the root.  Maybe it's in the validater zip.

Don, I ran the .030 and followed directions in the manual.
It looks like the only thing missing is the dll file.
Not sure what I did wrong. I did the setup with the pin and all.

Read the Readme file included.  It gives a link to the Airport METAR abbreviations.

You can include anything WUHU lists so monthly total rainfall can be included.  John's manual tells all the different things you can export from WUHU.
