And then in WUHU under General Settings you might need to make sure you have Write curdat.lst and Write Extended Data.  Not sure about those but I suspect they are needed.

All I can think of now is make sure you have everything in your WUHU folder.  That would include the .cfg file.

Yes strange.....All else is working well just can not pick up the airport Metar.
I played around and have the Monthly Rain total and added Wind gust.
I just can not seem to get rid of a " at the end of of the string.
It ends with Wind Gust 0.0"
I have taken out the" and it still shows up...LOL
Thanks again for making this available and to John for providing the manual so
that even I can get this mostly set up.
And I think I have all the correct files in the folder.

I am still wondering if the string in th emanual is correct, as the two strings
in th eadvanced section for metar and metar from airport seem to be exactly the
same.

Hi,
I am updating Weatherunderground using WUHU and have been for 6 months. recently
my rapidfire web page is not populating, it the splash comes up with all the
fields but they are not populated. There is a red refreshing box in the upper
right corner but nothing ever happens. I checked WU and my data is being
populated so my uploads are occurring, any idea why my rapidfire page is not
being populated?
Thanks

Hello,

I did just upgrade our rapidfire ingestion servers. This could have something to do with the problem.

This is an FYI just in case it helps debug the issue.

What PWS station ID is this related to?

Thanks,
John

I had what I think is a similar occurrence. I think what you said was that to
see current data you are forced to reload the page.

This happened to me recently. There is a user setting to turn rapid fire
on/off. I'd always run with it on. Suddenly, it went away. I have an idea
that an upgrade may have reset that feature.

Look under your settings. I think you'll see rapid fire is disabled.

Thank you for your reply.
No, refresh/reload does not fix the problem.
I have checked and rapid fire was/is checked.

I'm looking to tweak my reported rain fall reading. I have a CoCoRaHS manual
dump rain gauge and a wireless auto dump gauge that came with my Lacross weather
station. I wanted to know if I change the rainfall Coefficients(multipliers)
from 1.0000 to some other number would it bring the reading into the more
accurate reading of my manual gauge. If yes how would I go about finding that
number.

I would recommend creating a spread sheet that has the manual readings in one
column and the La Crosse readings in another. You can then create a tweak in the
spreadsheet and chart the two at the same time (manual readings versus tweaked).

Does WUHU and the Heavy Weather Pro 2800 work with Ubuntu?

I'm having major (and expensive) issues with Windows XP SP3. It crashed on me at
the end of May (this year) and it's costing me allot to get it back to the state
it was in. The PC downloaded and installed the recent Windows security updates
and now everything doesn't work right. I had other issues long before this major
crash happen with other Windows security updates, like the sound stopped working
or the graphics end up being funky. Right now the WV5 Communications Service
will not run, so the USB plug-in transceiver will not communicate with the
console.

I have tried out Ubuntu and I like what I see. The OS boots up far faster than
XP. But I worry that my PWS won't be able to do what it "was" doing with XP.

I believe there are a few people running WUHU under WINE.  Your mileage may vary.

Fish Water,
Giving up Microsoft because of a troublesome PC is like having a bad date and going gay.  I'm not trying to be harsh either. If you can't maintain a clean running windows system any linux flavor will give you fits.  The learning curve is a razor.

I'd bet that you have some hardware that is faulty.

If you're still running XP on that computer send me an email - I'll check the logs/etc and see what's causing the problem.

Thanks,

Does WUHU and the Heavy Weather Pro 2800 work with Ubuntu?

I'm having major (and expensive) issues with Windows XP SP3. It crashed on me at the end of May (this year) and it's costing me allot to get it back to the state it was in. The PC downloaded and installed the recent Windows security updates and now everything doesn't work right. I had other issues long before this major crash happen with other Windows security updates, like the sound stopped working or the graphics end up being funky. Right now the WV5 Communications Service will not run, so the USB plug-in transceiver will not communicate with the console.

I have tried out Ubuntu and I like what I see. The OS boots up far faster than XP. But I worry that my PWS won't be able to do what it "was" doing with XP.

The majority of the drivers in the Kernel are either damaged or corrupt, so I
was told.

As to maintaining a "Clean PC", this PC goes through a thorough scan everyday
with Avast 7.0, Malwarebytes, C-Cleaner, Spybot S&D and I even use Spyware
Blaster. All of these are done everyday. It was the latest Windows Security
Update that caused the PC to crash. It ran fine after the download, the update
and reboot. But after the reboot and I try to open, close or simply click on the
Start button and the whole machine freezes up. That's when I ran the Compaq
restore discs. Now everything is not running right. Suppose to have plug-n-play,
that doesn't work. Plug something in and nothing happens.

I can't get the operating system updated as Microsoft can't verify I have a
legit operating system. It was legit before the security update.

The version of Ubuntu I have will strip the hard drive completely clean. It will
do a thorough reformat of the hard drive. Anything that's on it will be gone. My
brother done that to his PC and he showed just how much faster his older PC is
now running Ubuntu.

I found out I cannot use it any ways as it is not compatible with dial-up
internet connection. It can only be used with Broadband, wireless internet and
wi-fi. Someday --- I would like to switch to wireless internet. I'm tired of
dial-up. Too dang slow to do anything. Including updating the many apps I use.

I've gotten several dew point 0 in the last 2 days. You can see them at 15:38,
15:43, snd 15:53 for today 6/16. It looks like the times correlate to the rain
sensor error. I double checked everything here and there are no strange dew
point readings on the wuhu PC. Here are the logs:

at Jun 16 15:29:35 2012 > Alarm Data Corrected has been deactivated.
Sat Jun 16 15:34:40 2012 > Rain Sensor - Did not receive update within 300
seconds.

Furthermore, WU shows this 0.0 dew point even when its not in the data
displayed, so they are obviously not displaying all the records used to
calculate the max-mins.  We have a lot of internet interruptions here.

In Windows always go back to your last restore point after an "update" causes
heartburn. Linux might be a good alternative as you should be able to use
dial-up with it not sure about WUHU though...
