Sure, I can do that - but I won't be able to do so for a week or so.

I guess this is one of the classic FAQ's, but I am about
to give up on xAP, as the only linux hub seems to be the
one by Patrick Lidstone, and I still haven't managed to
get his web server to respond despite trying for quite a

Been trying to reply to this all week...

Unfortunately you can't in the current version. It'll bind to a local hub on
the loopback address for receive and transmit to 255.255.255.255:3639. That
should be good enough for most setups. What behaviour are you trying to
alter?

James,

I downloaded the test floorplan exe last night and copied into my floorplan install directory. (I also unregistered the existing ocx before copying in the new one and re registered). I then editted the settings file and set the broadcast address to 192.168.0.255, saved and started floorplan

Floorplan now seems to bind to the correct interface (192.168.0.x) and does "see" BSC messages on the network.

I haven't had time to investigate / test any further but it seems to have fixed my initial problem. Thanks :)

Hi,

You can get the latest build here:

the broadcast setting is on the main settings page, replace the 255.255.255.255 with  192.168.0.255 , or whatever fits your network addressing. It may well need a restart after changing it.

I'll try "jigging" around my interfaces tonight, but I'm also happy to beta test your "test" build if your can send me a link  ?
Since I'm only at the stage of trying/playing with all this its no great shakes if it has a few oddities, its not like SWMBO will be allowed to see it ;)

Hi,

Sorry for the delay, been away for a while.

The current Floorplan is stuck to the primary interface. You should be able to shuffle the interfaces around by the adapter priority within the networks setting but I have seen oddities, especially with bluetooth dongles that always seem to be primary no matter what you do.
I have a test build here that allow for selection, basically you just set a suitable broadcast address for the adapter/network you want and it seems to work fine, but it is under test. You're welcome to try it if you like but I wouldn't fully trust it yet!

Its defaulting to my Bluetooth connection but I need it to be my Wifi connection.
I've looked in the "settings.txt" file but can't see anywhere obvious to set it ?

Hi,

Yes that's a bit unusual.  In theory when you have multiple xmpp connections the one with the highest priority, which is usually the one with the last activity, would be the one to appear in the roster. When receiving a message it should only come from the resource that sent the message, quite why google is sending all the logins is a bit odd!

should clean the issue up, just replace the exe with the one you have already got. The resource names will still be there as they are used by other apps but it should all stay on the one line and so make a valid message each time.

Firstly, I feel a bit guilty about asking for a bug-fix when I have never got
round to thanking anyone for the xAP bits I use every day (xAP Floorplan, xAP
X10 Connector, xAP MCS 1-Wire, xAP MCS CID, xap MCS K3145, xAP MCS WOL, xAP

xAP Jabber 0.5 is connecting to the XMPP network, sending, receiving and showing
status perfectly, but when I send it a IM it produces a malformed xAP message:

James,

Good news, I reorganised my adapter priorities last night and Floorplan now picks up the correct IP address, although I still didn't receive any xap messages.

I'll grab the "test" tonight when I get home, set my adapter priority back and see how it behaves.

Thanks

Hi,

You can get the latest build here:

the broadcast setting is on the main settings page, replace the 255.255.255.255 with  192.168.0.255 , or whatever fits your network addressing. It may well need a restart after changing it.

Hi Daniel,

Wow...this looks really interesting and has huge potential - just having
a play now... got some BSC endpoints setup and I'll let you know how I
get on :-)

I've got a few minor things I've still got to suss - like how to get the
captions to be displayed and persist - I only have default names
displayed currently despite altering them using the right click
properties (English) and also in the elements property editor... I'll
get there..

I hope the suggestions do provide a solution that works for you.

It's a shame that Mikko has not interacted with the xAP community in a
way that would have ensured LogTemp adhered to the specification.
Although I haven't used his application it appears from the messages you
posted that his TSC implementation is not going to work. I am unsure
that he has implemented the bidirectional data exchange either but FTTB
let's assume that bit works.

The TSC specification is documented in great detail here
http://www.xapautomation.org/index.php?title=xAP_Telemetry_Status_and_Control_Sc\
hema
and it is derived from our heavily used BSC specification again
documented in great detail here
http://www.xapautomation.org/index.php?title=Basic_Status_and_Control_Schema
which supplements the standard xAP specification document.

As I posted on the xAP developers list I am happy to work with Mikko to
try and get his application compliant with the specifications but only
if the schema specification is met is there any possibility that his
application will interact with other xAP applications supporting TSC.
My recommendation to him would be to support either BSC or TSC via a
selectable dropdown for maximum plug and play interoperability currently
but TSC alone is viable. Failing that he could just present his data
using an informational schema ( a list of values). This is possibly what
the 'own message for each sensor' option already does . Nearly all these
informational schema are supportable in nearly all applications eg
HomeSeer, Charmed Quark, xAP Floorplan, HouseBot, Cortex, Girder(?)
,MisterHouse(?) etc although the OPNMax embedded controller is BSC
centric. However the problem comes when you implement a standard schema
incorrectly.

I hope Mikko will refine the xAP TSC support within his application as
it looks to be a great application , and particularly useful for the
logging aspects. However should he not be wanting to do that then it
would be better if he did withdraw xAP support altogether as presenting
invalid xAP schema doesn't help anyone. Should he do this and if you
are in need of 1-wire sensor information presented on xAP then there are
several other applications that already offer this , and even a couple
of standalone embedded 1-wire controllers with xAP support. These work
well with xAP Floorplan etc.

Supporting xAP allows your device to immediately integrate with most of
the leading HA applications without you having to write and maintain
your own plugins for each application - an attractive proposition.

Kevin,

Thanks for the information. I have not had time to "play" (as my wife calls it)
around with it today. Maybe over the weekend. I did get a response from Mikko at
MRsoft and it seems he wants to pull xAP support from Logtemp. His mail follows:
-------------------------------------------
Hi,

Thanks! There have been some statements about the correct schema implementation,
but so far there are too many open issues. I sure that LogTemp could be modified
to work with some other software, but that does not guarantee it would work also
with other similar implementations. So, schema must reach a higher level and
specify in details it's usage. Of course this is not your fault.

The current plan for LogTemp is to remove xAP support totally. Schema proposals
have been there for some years allready without any real progress, therefore
it's not very tempting to start using them today.

Anyway, we will follow the case for some time and make our decision after that.
Thank you for your info.

Best regards,

Mikko Rintala
MR Soft
----------------------------------------------------------
Maybe you guys can get together to get this ironed out and help TSC schema to
flourish?

Thanks,

Mike

When switchboard sees an outlook plugin you will get a  line at the bottom of the main settings page in order to ask the plugin to resend data, one button for each plugin.

The contact sharing part of the plugin seems to work fine in 2007, I havn't tried the other parts.  The plugin should be listed in the trust centre and at the bottom the enable macro security for com is disabled. if you click manage com addins you get another screen listing the plugin, make sure it's ticked. All of this was witht he default settings as setup by the 2007 demo of which i only loaded outlook.

You could run a copy of Viewer and see if any heartbeats are seen from outllook. Everything the plugin does is over xAP so it should all be visible

Ah, got a little further – registered the dll and it now installs.

The switchboard config pages don’t show the outlook connection though – it’s a while since I looked at it, but shouldn’t it show an additional icon etc in the config area or on the footer somewhere?

Cheers,

Paul.

Thanks James.

Yes, I’m sure I saw something like this before but can’t for the life of me remember what it was! I’ll have a further play too…

It should work fine.  Gregg's axc uses schemas that Switchboard can understand, so it should all just show up in the same way a meteor would

Hi All/James (if you’re listening?),

I’ve not been running switchboard for a while but after getting asterisk up and running successfully for a while now, would like to get it going again BUT with Asterisk integration.

Is it possible to integrate incoming/outgoing Asterisk calls into switchboard?

Many thanks,

Paul.
