Thanks for the group activity. :-) I usually try to check the group
at least once a day since I have to approve all posts now, but
sometimes I get to check it less... or more. The more activity there
is, the more I'll try to check. ;-)
I found out today that I'll be off work tomorrow, so I can stay up to
chat tonight. I'm on EST, so if any of you are in other time zones
like PST it may still be early in the evening for you. You can find
me at #dcchat on the irc.foreverchat.net server. Just use something
like mIRC or whatever IRC program you prefer.
I looked into mkisofs on the Mac not long ago, but I really was having
a hard time making any sense of just what I needed and just what to do
to get set up. Then there's the issue of getting the lba I want for
the kind of discs I make. I cram every part of the CD with data to
fit as much as possible, so the 1st session which is usually just a
dummy audio track actually contains data that is referenced in the 2nd
main data session. Then there's an audio track of the PSD theme song
which you can listen to if you put the disc in your DC and go to the
audio menu. Then comes the 2nd session with the main data. I make my
1st iso and audio track come to an lba of 45000 (like original
GDROMs), then I make my 2nd iso and hex edit the TOC to point to the
extra data I have in the 1st session. I can do this very easily with
command line tools in windoze. You can probably understand why
learning to do this in Mac OS 10.4.x would require more time than I
care to commit. The stripped download version of XDP is just a simple
audio/data format image, but I won't work on stripping it until I have
the full version ready. Also, since I have a G4, I'm PPC and don't
plan to afford an intel Mac Pro any time soon. I suppose if I could
use bootcamp, I'd be good to go.
Oh, and another thing... I have Photoshop CS2 on my Mac and I don't
know if the PVR plugin will work with it. If it does, I've not
figured out how. I've not been able to use it with anything above
Photoshop 7, and don't want to downgrade for the plugin. If the PVR
plugin will work with CS2 and you know how, I'd like to have that
info. (Not that it will really matter if I get the peecee running
properly).
Now about that mobo/cpu combo I mentioned earlier... it was on ebay...
I went to get it and someone else had already grabbed it with "buy it
now." So, it may be a while yet before I get the peecee fixed because
I'm not willing to dump much more $$ into it. It all depends on when
I find another deal like the one I just missed. :-(
