Hi InQ,

Thanks a lot. Sorry if I took so long, it's because I lost my backup hard drive
and I'm kind of slow to read my e-mail.

Cheers,
Eleandra.

with resampling options offered. Not flawless I admit, but it certainly
is a quick and dirty solution until Garth figures out an XD one.

I know what that feels like. I lost a motherboard last October, but at
the time I thought it was the hard drive. I ended up replacing the
computer with a laptop I could use for work, and the hard drive (which I
tested to find it works fine) now sits idle until I can get a new MB.
Until that happens, I have several years worth of email just sitting there.

We are pleased to announce the release of XenoDream v2.
The full price is US$119, and the price to upgrade from v1.x is
US$29.99.
(V1.6 will be a free update from earlier versions, available in a few
weeks.)

For some information about v1.6 and v2.0, go to
http://xenodream.com/xenodream1.htm
The first paragraphs have links to a V2 Features page, and an updated
feature list with what's new in v1.6 and 2.
The rest of the product pages still show v1.5, and I will be updating
them over the next few days.

To order the upgrade, click the Purchase button in the website menu.
The product list will show three products, and the V2 Upgrade should be
the second one. Click it to get the product detail. If you have your
original order number, enter it in the space provided before ordering.
The store only accepts credit cards, so email me if you want to use
Paypal or other methods. We have to check the customer database before
we can email the download information for v2, so there may be up to 8
hours delay depending on the time of day.

Morris Smith has a webpage showing some of the new features, at
http://xenodreaming.info/v2/

Thank you for all your support over the last two years. We are really
looking forward to seeing what you can do with v1.6/v2.

Best regards,
Garth Thornton

Sorry about that,

I believe the problem is resolved. There is a problem with our gateway
if too much text is entered in the Other Info fields. I'm not sure if
the limit is per field or total. I have limited the size, so it should
be ok, but if you do get an error, try again with less text and let me
know and I will limit it more.

Garth

Hi Martin,

what happened when you tried to order? Did you get an error saying
"Unable to authorize payment: SGS-005000"?

If so, it is from typing more than 127 characters into the Order Number
and Other Information boxes.

Or a different error?

Garth

To anyone who has already upgraded to V2:
There is a bug in v2.004 under Windows 95 or 98, where opening
animation projects will not work for files larger than 64kb.

If you think that might affect you, download it again and reinstall
(you don't need to uninstall it first.) The installer is now v2.005,
dated 9 April.

This would be interesting also for me. I already upgraded to V2, and
noticed that the guide has several interesting sections regarding the
new features. A PDF file of it would be welcome, more comfortable to
read and print than Windows help file.

Has anyone ever tried to make an animation with xenodream?
I don't mean exporting a single model into a 3d app and creating an
animation with it, but actually morphing the parameters from within
xenodream and then exporting a sequence of mesh objects that could then
be animated by hiding the entire sequence and revealing each
consecutive model on each frame. This would effectively create a
morphing xenodream animation. Is this even possible?

I don't recommend that approach, because unless you used very simple
models you would end up with huge polygon counts.

It would be much easier to use XenoDream v2 animation features to do
the morphing and rendering in XenoDream. You don't get the advantages
of scene and rendering options that other programs have, but you get
much better resolution of the morphing object.

Am very excited by what V2 looks like it can do, trolling the Starters file has
lots of great xeps to play with. In truth, I havent had chance to have a 'good'
play, and its been so long, I have forgotten the things I used to know.

Im going to have to dig up my Manual, and print out the relevant bits out of the
Help file and immerse myself in it for a few weeks (no great hardship LOL)

But what I would love to see is some gallerys out there that have pix made with
V2 (or more likely its Beta version) that can give me some idea of what to
aspire to etc.

Is there any body out there?

Cheers

There isn't yet. The trouble is that .map files and other indexed
gradients tend to have a lot of values, whereas node-based gradients
like XenoDream's use interpolation between the nodes, and allow you to
drag nodes around. If you have over 100 nodes it gets difficult to
edit. If you have 256, forget about editing. However, you still may
want to import them just to use.

It is a low priority for me, and I hate writing code to import from
other formats. If anyone wants to write a program to convert .map or
any other gradients to xcg files, I am happy to provide a
specification.

A few more issues have been found with V2.004/5.

The main one is that the Main window's floating windows don't minimize,
after some other fixes I made a week ago.

I have replaced the V2 installer with a V2.006 one, dated April 10.

If you have already upgraded to V2, check the Help About box to see the
version number. If it is less than 2.006, you may want to download
again and reinstall.

I also added a known issues section to the Readme.txt file. If you have
previously associated .xep files with Xenodream or any other program,
the installer will probably not change that, because Explorer does it
differently, so you would have to change it to XenoDream2 yourself
using Explorer.

I promise not to keep doing this :)

I did an animation in XD 2.0 and you can have a look at it here
http://teena.biz/chopped1.htm. On my "Downloads" page you can
download it as a stereo anaglyph animation to see it in stereo 3D
with red/blue glasses.

Outstanding animation, Juliette! Bravo! :)

Take care,
Christina
