Thank you Martin for the response.

I gratefully use XP.

This is the fist time I could not do a FREE "work around" with XP.

After I save for a Hi-Def-TV, BD player, and new (5 or 7.1) audio system, it will be time for a new computer with Win 7. about 18 months from now. (I use a tuner plugged into my computer for TV)

The "preview animations"  are cool. I did a work around via a Real Media download converted to .wmv and saved. Had to delete all .dream files, they caused a hard 'pull the plug' lock up.

My passion is XD's easy X eye stereo. Any chance of getting the original "Xeno Light.dream" .xep? Looks like great stereo potential.

Thank you.

Hi Tom,

To play Dreamscene files you need to be on Windows Vista (it used to be exclusive to the Ultimate version, but I am quite sure it also works on the other versions if you have sp2 installed) - more info about Dreamscene can be found here:

If you are still on XP, then I am afraid that the only option is to use the Deskscapes software that is available for purchase here http://dream.wincustomize.com/

I have just created some XD Dreamscene content, it is of course up to you whether you want to use it or not - I am definetely not trying to push software :)

Feel free to ask if you have any questions about setting it up...

Best Regards,

Martin

How do you play or open the "Xeno Light.dream" file?
I have no $ for buying software if that is what these posts are rely all about.

Hi,

The Dreamscenes mentioned in my previous post are available for download here - http://rapidshare. com/users/ 2LUTAI

Use winrar (http://www.rarlab. com/download. htm) to unzip the files...

Hi,

Yeah, it's probably tricky to get it running on XP... Anyway, you can look forward to trying out this feature when you get your new machine.. :)

Until then, you can have a go at the attached xep's...

I actually tried that file as well in stereo-mode, and you are right, it looks awesome.. Would be great to do some animation in stereo mode, but I did not really manage to get the workflow right.. As far as I understand, XD cannot apply the stereo filter in batch mode..

Regards,

Martin

You're right, there is no option for applying stereo filters in batch mode.
But you can render crosseyed stereo pairs in batch mode and use
another program to process them for anaglyphs.

Thanks for the info Garth - I will have a go at it again..

I just seem to remember that several of the small programs I tried for making anaglyphs did not work on 64-bit OS...

If anyone has any recommendations, I am eager to hear what software can do this..

Hi Martin

I think the best You can do is using the ColorCode3D system. It is much better in the colorpresentation than anglyph. It is a very strong serie of software where You can make all from stills to computergames in 3D stereo. I use it myself and have done it from the very first time. It is a Danish company and I have been stockholder in the company the first couples of years. I am out now but if You contact the company, speak to Svend B. Sorensen the CEO and refer to me. I am shure he will give You, and others from the group, all the info You want and more too. (He loves to talk and he is realy a 3D nerd)

I use "Stereo Movie Maker" for converting stereo animations to different stereo formats. It's free and you can download it (and other nice stuff) here http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/index.html
I use it in Vista Home Premium 64-bit without any problems.

Hello,

Here is an image rendered using 3dsmax, Vray & VrayScatter...

The XD object itself (based on one of Joseph Presleys xep's) contains about 1,2 mill polys..

In this case, the object has "only" been instanced 300 times :)

Hi Baz,

I believe you need to set it to allow attachments or something like that in

Let me know if you succeed, if not then I can just mail you a bunch of

Hello Xenodreamers, this is Barney. Its been quite a while since I posted, and since I have moved a couple of times in the last year, I am posting with a new account.

Anyway, I still enjoy Xenodream and have made some animations which I posted on Youtube now that they offer HiDef (1280 x 720) viewing. You don't have to join to watch them, but if you are a member (free to join!) you can leave comments and rate the videos. They are each about a minute and a half long, with a couple running longer. If your internet connection is fast enough I would encourage you to view with the HD option. If the video is jerky, switch to the standard Youtube version. They all have music, so turn up the volume.

You can go to Youtube.com and search for "xyoureyes". That should bring all six videos up. Otherwise you can use the links below. They get better and more complicated as the number gets higher. You need to cross your eyes to see the 3d effect ( the parallel eyes method also works on the transparent ones).

The transparent ones are so beautiful -- my favorite is the dance in 08.  Unfortunately, I'm not able to see the solid ones at all; my eyes keep returning to focus.  But I'm not quibbling: "Why ask for the moon when we have the stars!"

A lovely experience. Thank you.

Hello Tom,

Actually all the xeps are fairly simple. But with animations I end up with hundreds of them. So, if you tell me which animation and the approximate frame (time stamp), I would be glad to send it.

You might be able to load the entire animation which would have all the xeps. Here is the xan (animation) file for one of them. Let me know if it works. I believe I had the opacity set at 20, render cutoff at 10000, and lighting set to ambient.

Hello 3dStereogrammers, Xenodreamers, and Kaleider fans,

I just posted a new video, 3d Stereogram Animation 091007 on Youtube. You can search for "xyoureyes" of follow the link below. I have also attached a still image (compressed, so the resolution isn't that great)

This was pretty experimental. It was my first shot at using a program called Kaleider (http://www.whizical.com/index.htm) to create stereograms. I used three different XD fractal images for the kaleidoscope to create the bottom image, top image and mask, and used 3dsMax to put it together. This video is pretty simple, just two flat layers, but I have lots of ideas to go with from here. I think Xenodream, Kaleider, and 3dsMax will be a beautiful combination for stereograms.

The effect is pretty subtle. Two or three times during the video it transitions and you ask yourself "where did that come from"?

It was designed for cross-eyed viewing, but parallel works pretty well too. I suggest watching in HD mode at full screen resolution.

Have fun.

Barney

What fun Bob!  Well done.  The picture mapping tut was the first thing I did when exploring xenoDream for the first time.  It truly gives you an idea of the endless possibilities when applying your own pictures and tweaking the colors. :))

Absolutely, here is where you can find it:

In XenoDream, click on the help tab, third in from the File tab.
Click 'Using Xenodream' (FULL OF TUTS!)
Click the search tab and type in Picture mapping

A one page Tutorial will show you how much fun this is.

Once you are done exploring this tutorial, click on the help book and type in picture mapping again in that search area.  You will then learn the fun elements of tweaking the different elements for the look you are trying to achieve.

Hope this helps!

Hello Stereogrammers, Xenodreamers, and Kaleiders,

I posted a new stereographic animation, 3d Stereogram Animation 3dw091020, on Youtube today. The link is

Not long ago, I stumbled across the very talented French musician and artist Stephanie Valentin. She graciously gave me permission to use her music in a video. The piece I chose was 'Electric Violin and Loopstation (original song)'. In this she plays and records, modifies, and plays the recording all at once. ( I once saw Phil Keaggy live do this with a guitar, which was incredible, but I digress). So, at the very least, you will enjoy the music.

I made some images with Xenodream and used them as the base for the kaleidoscope images and masks. In 3dsMax I created two planes at the same depth but applied out of phase waves to them to create depth effect. I mapped the planes with the Kaleider images and masks. Then I created a cube, placing the center just a little closer to the camera than the planes. I mapped the cube with the video of Stephanie Valentin. I had to play with the opacity of all the maps to get the effect I wanted.

It was made for crosseyed viewing, but parallel will work for much of it. The HD version is best. (I find it is best to pause and let the whole thing download before playing).

This was my second attempt with Kaleider and I think I improved. But, I am still experimenting and learning. It is my first attempt at including a video as a map, but that was relatively easy.

So, cross your eyes and enjoy. And, if you are a Youtube member (free to join) please rate and comment on Youtube.

Barney

My creative muse seems to be coming back after a long absence. I have been getting back into analogue art, and the other day I poked back into XD. I discovered an xep file by Garth, called "Rock Show". I tweaked it, changed the view, and voila, this is what I got.
