Xenu doesn't allow to change the priority. The 0.8 value comes from the
google documentation. It is your job to edit the file before submitting
it to google. Only you, as a human, knows what is important for you.

I have slighly updated the Xenu FAQ:
http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html
There's now a section "35. Any Spyware, Adware, Malware?". Please
contact me directly ( tilman at snafu dot de ) if there's poor grammar,
or if something might be misunderstood.

No.
You'll have to do a rescan from scratch.

Good news:
As of today, Yahoo Search no longer "warns" about my site.

Use the search feature. Press the binoculars symbol in the toolbar, or
Ctrl-F on the keyboard, then enter ".asp".

I will be meeting with a few content folk for our Web site this week
to discuss how best to use Xenu.
I have my own "rules of thumb I'll be sharing," but does anyone have
any favorite "tips and tricks" (or can point me to a Web site) so that
I can offer up more than my own opinion about this awesome tool?
Much appreciation in advance.

The current beta
http://home.snafu.de/tilman/tmp/xenubeta.zip
is now able to understand the ID= component in a HTML tag (which is
meant to replace <a name="anchor"></a>.
Tilman
According to
http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html
the current (non beta) version is 1.2j.

I have hundreds of URLs saved as desktop shortcuts.
How can I validate such links? Can’t see a way to do it via
Xenu. Do you know of other ways to do it? Many thanks. Larry
Chait
Maybe I am doing this wrong,
but after I generate a report using Xenu (1.2J) - I fix a bunch of
the broken links, and then select "retry broken links" from the menu
pulldown (Ctrl-R).
Xenu doesn't remove the links that I just fixed from the list.
I have to do a complete rescan of the entire site again.
is Xenu rescanning a cached copy of the broken link pags ?
why would the list not shrink to remove the links I've fixed ?
thanks

Yes, a rescan from scratch.

No

Because it's not enough to do CTRL-R. That is only useful if broken
links are due to a network problem or a broken host.

I have added about 400 new pages to my 50,000 page site. Do I also
need to do a complete rescan? It takes about hour and half to do the
scan with a 34 thread count.
It appears xenu is missing some pages also. I should have around
52,000 pages. I have hit the retry broken links several times but it
hasn't found any additional pages...
Any idea on how to find the missing pages? My site is very well
inter-linked, so there shouldn't be an issue with that...
Site is - http://www.vacation-rental-wonderland.com/
Craig
FYI: I just upgraded the database server. We had talked last month
about having trouble with timed out links.

Tell me what page Xenu is missing, and from what page it is linked, that
is "known" by Xenu. Maybe that "new" Page is linked through javascript?

I'm not sure what pages are missing. I only know that i should have roughly that many. Do have any recommendations on how I can find out how many total pages my site has, as well as what ones are missing?
All the pages are generated from a template, So I can't just do a count of the files.
All pages are direct text links. No javascript at all.

The answer would be to use Xenu. But you say that it doesn't count all
pages.... so no solution.

Hi Michael
When you use 'retry broken links' it only retries the actual URLs that
were broken; it doesn't recheck the original page that contained the
broken link.
Tara
Weird. I'll investigate this.

Use the "wildcard" version, it allows to use expressions like
"*jpg" instead of URLs.

"Invalid path" usually means that it is a directory, not a file.
You might want to activate the option "list local directories" in the
advanced options.
