Adobe Announces S1000D and DITA FrameMaker Applications   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #5710 of 6107 |
A little tardy, perhaps, but the much-anticipated FrameMaker 7.2
Application packs for Microsoft® Windows are today available for free
download from the new Adobe Labs web site. Of course a beta version is
a work in progress. Expect things to go wrong. Then, share your
feedback with Adobe. They’ve created a discussion forum that ought to
prove helpful to users and to the FrameMaker Application Pack
development team.

This is totally a new approach for Adobe, a company technical
communicators have long complained did not listen to their requirements
nor provide mechanisms for users to give feedback to Adobe. It appears
things are changing. In fact, these new tools were created by technical
communication professionals for technical communication professionals.
Several STCers (names you will likely recognize from our annual
conference lineup) were instrumental in getting the software giant to
listen to our concerns and deliver something different.

It's starting to get very interesting.
