Hello solar car enthusiasts,
I am pleased to finally say that we drove the XOF1 solar car complete (top and bottom) for the first time. So, now it is official "XOF1" holds the world record for the solar car project that took the longest to become a reality (smiles). It only took 12 years to convince myself to give the idea of building the solar car a try and over 5 years to build it (a lot of accumulated sweat equity at the end).
While driving the solar car we also raised the bar and pushed its technology further, we drove the car on an "ice road" (frozen lake), photo attached.
From now on no one will say that a solar car can only be driven on tropical countries in the middle of the summer. It was done during the harsh Canadian winter, on a frozen lake under low winter solar radiation. Yeah, I got my b.... frozen while doing it, next solar car will have a heater installed :)
We had to remove the fairings as they were plowing snow. At times the tire was buried in snow slowing down the car, talking about low rolling resistance. In any case the drive was a great success.

Cheers,
Marcelo da Luz
