In the past I have always loaded XOSL onto the first primary which
it has shared with Windows 98 or Me, this has always worked very
well.
I have just bought a new Dell onto which I have loaded Linux.
Unfortunately Dell have used the first three primaries meaning that
I only have logical partitions to play with. I would therefore like
to load XOSL onto the first logical partition.
My disc partition structure is
SDA1 Dell EISA Configuration 125MB
SDA2 Recovery NTFS (D) 10GB
SDA3 OS NTFS (C) 235.85GB
SDA4 Extended Partition
SDA5 FAT16 labelled XOSL
SDA6 Linux Swap
SDA7 Linux Ext3 containing Ubuntu
SDA8 to 11 empty for future Linux installs
Unfortunately when I try to load XOSL no matter whether I choose
install to a DOS or dedicated drive it does not see the first
logical partition. Even if I mark this partition as an active it
still does not see it. The only partitions it sees are HDO pri
MSFAT16 125MB or HDO Pri HPFS or NTFS 10,240MB
Does anyone know how to get XOSL loaded onto the first logical or
recommend an equivalent free alternative?
Thanks
