Hey all,
Most of you know that XO Wave is still beta and that means that it
may still have bugs, but from chatting with users I found out that many
folks are not aware of two features in XO Wave which help make it safer to
work with than most other beta software, so I'll describe them here. The
"Versions" feature is useful for far more than just Beta-testing, so I'll
start there:
Versions:
One of the best features of XO Wave (helpful for far more than just
working with beta's) is the "Save Version" feature. All you have to do is
select File:Save Version and XO Wave will save the session's state as a
dated file in your session, making it easy to recover the session as it
was at a certain time. Saving a version file is fast and typically only
requires one or two MBs of memory, so there's no reason not to do it!
Saving versions is like Undo except that you can always go back to a
version, even if you quit XO Wave (or if XO Wave crashes!). (Note that
some operations cause saved versions to be deleted, but you are warned
about these before hand.)
For more info, there is some preliminary documentation here:

Division of Labor and Save-on-crash:
The work of XO Wave is divided up into several processes. If one of them
crashes, the remaining processes usually have your work saved and you can
just restart the crashed processes. The one exception to this is the XOgui
process, which, if it crashes, can usually "trap" whatever it was that
caused the crash long enough to save your session to your desktop. So if
XO Wave crashes, don't panic: just look on your desktop for a ".xo" file
and double click on it! (Linux users will find this file in their home
directory)
Best of luck, and thanks again to all who are trying XO Wave while it is
Beta, especially those who have sent feedback!
