Adam,

Thanks for your question. When creating a new session, XO Wave
builds that hardware settings based on your default sound device and a set
of default latency settings that have been widely tested as "safe". You
can modify those settings, but, as you've discovered, those settings are
session-specific. If you want to use other hardware as the default, right
now, you must select it in your sound control panel. Latency, simillarly,
must be changed each time you create a session if you are unhappy ith the
conservative default.

If you are creating lots of sessions and always want to use,
say, the built-in hardware for your system sounds and, say, a pro
interface for your pro-audio work, I can definately see where it might
be frustrating to adjust this every time. I am happy to consider adding a
feature for this -- and now is the time since 0.18.0 is planned to be the
last major revision before 1.0. If you could describe your situation a bit
more or if anyone else has a related complaint, please let me know and
I'll see what I can do.
