Bjorn,

Thanks for all the quick replies.

I'm using a little firewire interface for my audio interface. I actually
don't care where my outputs go as much as I care where my inputs come from
(but yes, in general I do like to send my system sounds through the built
in, and DAW sounds through the firewire interface)...

As far as inputs go, everytime I hit record, it defaults to my laptop's mic
unless I switch my audio hardware preferences... Ideally I'd like see Audio
Hardware as a global seting, not a session wide setting... Is that possible?

... It's not ideal, but perhaps setting the default input to your interface in the System Preferences, would save some trouble. IIRC 0.17.5b has support for...
