Hi folks,
I'm currently looking for a position in the SF Bay area where I can once
again use XP while also, hopefully, doing some interesting things with
Java (and if Swing's involved, count me in!). I have 5 years of
experience in Java and have been using Swing since it was version 0.7.1.
You can peruse my resume at http://www.swingstart.com/resume.html or see
a few paragraphs at http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?TedYoung.

Hi, my name is Ariel Erlijman and I live in Montevideo, Uruguay. I've been
learning XP and following this group for almost a year. I've just finished
my thesis called "Extreme Programming Implementations Issues (Problems and
Solutions)" and got my Bachelor in Computer Science (in Montevideo-Uruguay).
I have also studied at North Carolina State University for a semester.
I really want to see XP in practice, that's why I would like to know if
there is anyone with open positions and career opportunities willing to hire
someone with my background.
I have more than 3 years of experience developing with VB, JavaScript, ASP,
SQL Server and other languages and tools. I also have experience in Object
Oriented Design and some research in Smalltalk. If you are interested, you
can send me a personal email to: aerlijma@... and I will forward
my complete resume.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.

I've just added a few links, based on a discussion in the extremeprogramming

it might be relevant here.

Hi,
I'm looking for a chance to work in an XP team in Australia. I am emigrating
from the UK, and will initially be on a working visa, so I will be only be
available for a trial 3 month position. I will be based just outside
Melbourne.
I am primarily a C++ programmer (8 years experience) ,and also have
experience leading teams. I'd like to get some more experiance with Java if
possible, but not essential. I am very keen and enthusiastic about XP and
love programming in general. I have a lot to offer, and believe I can be a
great asset to the right company. I'm creative and self motivated, and
looking to work with like minded people.
If you have a position open at an innovative company that has an
enthusiastic, productive development team, then please contact me.
Many thanks
Nigel Thorne
We are, among other things, an ASP providing portals for large
organizations/companies (see http://www.ibelong.com). We need a
PL/SQL expert who has designed, written, and debugged complex
packages to support an object oriented project. A real plus would be
the ability to maintain and improve a data access layer written in
Java with implementation written in PL/SQL. I'm toying with Toplink
so if you have any experience with that I might be interested.
I am only looking for a permanent hire and do not want to talk to
either contractors or headhunters please! Please be honest with
yourself. I am looking for someone who has done these types of
things before and can hit the ground running. Visa or green card
sponsorship is not a problem.
We are heavily into XP throughout the enterprise. We have used this
with great success for many months. We recently expanded and are
figuring out how to extend XP to work with projects in multiple
locations both here and abroad.
I'd love to go on and on about how great a place this is to work but
in deference to the groups rules I ask that you respond for more
information. I am not in HR and am busy just like you are so please
don't respond unless you have genuine interest.
Thank you for your time.

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for Java related work in either New Zealand or Australia. I am just
completing a BBComp degree which is all over in a couple of weeks. As part of
the final stage of my degree, I have been doing an internship which required me
to build part of a game engine in Java.
If any such positions are available I would really like to know about them.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am not a recruiter. In fact, I am a developer in an Internet company in 28th
street, New York.
We are building some web based applications for HTML, WAP, Palm VII, etc.
We have now much more work than it used to be, so I guess, we need more
developers,
especially with good OO skills.
We developing in Java running on Apache Jserv (+gnujsp) and are connected to
Oracle8i database.
We will consider any good java developer, even if he has no prior server side
experience.
The role of the candidate will be not only "just developer", but kind of OO
mentor, maybe an XP coach.
Oh yes, we are using XP, but it is a little bit modified for our needs. None of
us ever was on any kind of XP
immersion, so we will welcome any advise on how we can change our development
process.
One more thing, currently we are looking for a full-time position, but may
consider hiring a consultant.
Still, the management feels we need to get a full-time person.
Please help us!
Michael.

It looks like seeing how it goes has won. I changed the list rules in the
introduction.
Erik

Yup, any xp-jobs moderator can kick someone out. I am currently the only
moderator; if anyone else wants to be a moderator, let me know. (AFAIK, once
someone is kicked out, they can never re-subscribe.)

Yes, IF:
a) the job is xp-related, and
b) it is clearly indicated that the poster is a recruiter/headhunter,
and
c) we can enforce a and b

It is implied that all jobs are *supposed to be* XP jobs, but I feel that
recruiters aren't going to be able to tell the difference between an XP job
and a non-XP job. This is why I wanted to ban them. But I'm happy to let
them post here if others think it's a good idea.

I have had bad experiences with headhunters and placement agencies. Their
recruiters often have absolutely no idea about technology, and I figured
they would spam this group with job postings for COBOL developers or tech
writers or something. But I may be wrong.
I created a poll about it to see what everyone else thinks.
Erik
