I've been using an Epson Perfection 4490 Photo for several months
and it has proven excellent. The one thing I was concerned about
was dust under the scanner glass - this has not been a problem.
6x6 scans are around 100megapixel at 4800dpi and enlarge nicely
to 13"x19" on an Epson R2400 printer. B&W scans are best done in
16-bit mode.

You'd probably be surprised at how much better these films work
when scanned in B&W mode, though I generally prefer traditional
silver film.
