Subject: Interface customizations, track recognition all NOT functioning
slrr3232

Not sure exactly when this started, but I am guessing just recently from the
other posts here. Same problem as others have posted, the player has stopped
recognizing tracks on the site I have it setup. As well, the skin I made along
with other customizations to the player are not functioning either. From what
others have posted, I am all but certain this is due to changes that were
implemented in the latest version. So then in the interim until I get a handle
on what has happened, is it possible to redirect to the previous version? If so
what is the proper URL? Any assistance in this matter would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.

SL

Could you tell me when

"The Yahoo! WebPlayer currently uses some Flash, and therefore the user must
have Flash installed for the player to work. We are working to remove this
limitation sometime soon."

will be done?

Thanks,

I'm using Dreamweaver CS5. Within DW and when launched locally using IE, the
webplayer only buffers and never gets around to playing. Works fine on the
remote site. No error message given. I saw this was posted last year and there
was no answer given.Anyone seen this and actually solved it.

I installed the MP3 player within a Dreamweaver HTML page. then I ran the site
locally I got this error:

Adobe Flash Player is trying to communicate with this internet enabled location.
To let this application communicate with the internet click settings

I checked settings and the ying.com site is already allowed. Not sure what I'm
doing wrong. Was I supposed to have downloaded the MP3 player locally?

Also my "parameters" box is empty on the DW properties page. This is the place
where I might indicate that the player is off when you arrive at a page.

Help?

I was able to fix all of my player issues by removing the displaystate: 1,
parameter. I was getting the resolving state error on my .xspf playlist. Hope
this helps. Not sure if developers know they have created this issue recently.
Also not sure how to contact the developers. Dont like the player in minimized
mode, my audience may not understand to expand the player. Hope they fix the
displaystate parameter soon.

Hi, it appears the mp3 links on your site are broken links. For example, when
trying to access the mp3 link directly, the file can't be found:

Hey Tim,

It might help if you let the developers know what version of IE has this bug.

Hi Tim,

We have a fix for this, which we'll be able to push live on Tuesday.

The issue has to do with a limit IE has on the number of stylesheets it can
support on a given page. Other browsers don't have this limit.

In order to resolve this in the meantime, you can try reducing the number of
stylesheets you include on your site. One way is to merge the contents of
several of your separate stylesheets into one stylesheet. Hope this helps!

I'm trying to hide the buttons that appear when you make an image a link to a

span.ymp-btn-page-play
span.ymp-btn-page-pause
span.ymp-btn-page-play em.ymp-skin
span.ymp-btn-page-pause em.ymp-skin

but changing the attributes of those (like display) seems to have no effect.

I just want to make sure I'm using the right names or if I'm doing something

Is that possible using the parameters command and if so, can someone post a demo

If not, is it possible to resize the player itself to be MUCH MUCH smaller?

Thanks in advance!

Hi.

I've run across a problem with the player - it does not load tracks from
localhost. After investigation of the code of the player, I found lots of code
like this:

if (this.checkForLocalHost(absoluteHref) === false)
{ this.addTrack(anchorCollection[i], type); }

where checkForLocalHost is as simple as

YAHOO.mediaplayer.Parser.prototype.checkForLocalHost = function (url) {
return (url.toLowerCase().indexOf("http://localhost") >= 0); };

WTF?
I have no idea at all why loading tracks from localhost is prevented.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I want to be able to automatically open the player so it starts playing but then
close / de-collapse the player back to the original state with the music still
playing.

I have been able to do the auto start using the "autoplay: true" parameter.

Is this possible I have searched but can't find any similar posts so not sure if
this is possible.

You can see the player here: http://www.simonandhelene.co.uk/Music.html

Hi Simon,

It looks like that's gone in the new version.

That said, the real fix is in-page navigation.

Basically, don't have links leave the page. Either they open in a new
window or you load new content into the same page.

Yeah, Sorry Simon. It looks as though that feature is no longer part of
the player in the newer version. Sorry to get your hopes up on that.

Hi,

It appears there is a conflict with the old version of prototype.js that you're
using on your site. If you update to the latest version of prototype.js, it
should help resolve the issue.

Please see this link:

http://ericchamberlain.com/coconaut.html

Notice in the bottom left the little player tab is where it is supposed to be.
But, if you look at the top left, there are four little play buttons that
correspond with the player.

I don't want those. How do I get rid of them? When I look a the code I can't
find see them. Can I insert extra code so they do not display?

Thank you for any help and insight, it is greatly appreciated!

The fact that the player can't be repositioned is the reason I can't use it in
any of my websites.

Hi,

I have a list of videos, which grows dynamically. I am trying to call the
YAHOO.MediaPlayer.addTracks when new tracks are added. But it fails with a
javascript error:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'parent' of undefined in line 95 of
player-min.js

Check the example at:
http://jsfiddle.net/AZtv4/1/

Please help.

Regards.
