Notice in the bottom left the little player tab is where it is supposed to be.
But, if you look at the top left, there are four little play buttons that
correspond with the player.
I don't want those. How do I get rid of them? When I look a the code I can't
find see them. Can I insert extra code so they do not display?
Thank you for any help and insight, it is greatly appreciated!
The fact that the player can't be repositioned is the reason I can't use it in
any of my websites.

Hi,
I have a list of videos, which grows dynamically. I am trying to call the
YAHOO.MediaPlayer.addTracks when new tracks are added. But it fails with a
javascript error:
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'parent' of undefined in line 95 of
player-min.js
Check the example at:

Please help.

Hi,
Is there a way to loop these tracks the examples given don't provide how this
can be done. Please help!
Surely Loop would be a simple and obvious feature for an MP3 player.

Hi,
Do we have any paramenter to suggest yahoo player to stop playing at instant of
time or get access to it and invoke stop over the player?
Thanks,
-Vikas.
i have yahoo media player on my webiste. When I play a clip on firefox the yahoo
media player slips out over the web page. When I play clip on IE it openes
window media player and covers website page. As far as I remember it didn't
always do this.
How can I prevent media player opeing when yahoo player link is clicked on to
play clip on IE?
Hi,
any road map regarding the below announcement? This is my third post to the
group more or less on similar lines, excuse me for my curiosity and eagerness to
know more about the product.
The below test is taken from
http://developer.yahoo.com/blogs/ydn/posts/2011/08/introducing-yahoo-webplayer/
We'll also be providing a pretty comprehensive API for the Yahoo! WebPlayer that
would allow programmatic creation of mashups, mixed-media playlists and much
more.
Thanks,
-Vikas.
Hi,
The links in my page content actually disappear when YMP loads. The player
seems to work OK, but it would be great if the page content remained intact...

I've used the old version of the media play and never had any problems.
Implementing the new version and noticed that the webplayer is not detecting
embedded files from youtube.
It will detect links with media and play those in the webplayer but not if it is
using the embed code.
Unfortunately, I cannot give you a link as the site is still being developed and
not open to the public. Unless, if someone can help me out, I can make it live
for 20 minutes or so.
Please let me know if anyone else had encountered this issue and how to fix it.
P.S. I have made the site live and tested too, just in case it was problem being
logged in - but not live. The webplayer still would not detect embedded files.
I have been successful having the webplayer load a list of songs embedded in an
HTML page, but now I am trying to set up a series of play lists for my home
page. I created two xspf files:
playlist-energetic.xspf
and
playlist-anthem.xspf
However Dreamweaver says: "Can't find a valid editor for this file extension"
WHen I create it in Dreamweaver it makes the files:
playlist-energetic.xml
playlist-anthem.xml
When I do it this way, the webplayer does not appear.
I created a hyperlink on my HTML page to those files (I tried it both ways and
neither works so far) and pasted the Webplayer code onto the HTML page.
My code for the playlist is as follows:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<playlist version="1" xmlns="http://xspf.org/ns/0/">
<trackList>
<track>
<location>download/William Limbach & the DeComposers - Stand
Together.mp3</location>
<title>Stand Together</title>
<creator>William Limbach & the DeComposers</creator>
<album>Stand Together</album>
<image>picts/cd-4.jpg</image>
</track>
<track>
<location>download/Ray Burns & the DeComposers - Running
Away.mp3</location>
<title>Running Away</title>
<creator>Ray Burns & the DeComposers - Running Away</creator>
<album>Running Away</album>
<image>picts/cd-4.jpg</image>
</track>
</trackList>
</playlist>
Any suggestions?
Again you developers done something wrong in codes instead of leaving it as it
was before and always!!
From today parameter
<script type="text/javascript">var YWPParams = { displaystate:1 }; </script>
is not working anymore!!!
What are you doing man? Fix it ASAP!!!!
I would like to learn how to use the API features of Webplayer. I have
successfully installed the single line of script on a page and it works fine,
but now I'd like to try the more advanced features, some of which I am not sure
I fully understand. For example, I'd like to have multiple playlists available
on a single page that I can select from. That possible? Is there a website I
could be directed to where I could see examples of the code in action and how it
gets set up. Seems like such a site, even a dummy site, that walks us through
the features and how they're set up could be very useful to many people.
JeffInPoulsbo
I was wondering if there was a way to stop the player when clicking on a link.
Is there a way to stop the player with a link? I'm afraid I don't quite
understand the API business.
Also, is there a way to play videos other than Youtube, Yahoo video, or by
typing the video in.
Can I play a .mov file elsewhere on my site through the player.
Any help much appreciated
This topic has been fairly frequently discussed. A message from mid February
2012 indicated that the problem would be resolved the following week. When I add
the following code to my HTML page, my webplayer does not load.
<script type="text/javascript">
var YWPParams =
{
autoplay: true,
volume: 0.7,
displaystate: 1
};
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://webplayer.yahooapis.com/player.js"></script>
Has the parameter changed? Is there a new fix coming? Has it ever been
resolved?
I had the same difficulty using IE and Google Chrome
Hi Justyn,
Your site has a CSS rule that hides all the spans on the page:
media="screen"
span {
display: none;
}
This rule basically says - "don't show any spans in my site"
Since the WebPlayer is wrapping the links with spans when it adds play buttons,
the links disappear.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
Our apologies. We fixed it about a month ago, but our last release a week or so
ago broke it again. We'll get this fixed again as soon as possible.

calling addTracks with a 'true' for the third argument (clear playlist before
appending) causes an error in the addTracks function.

Hey Media/WebPlayer developers,
You have an API made public here, probably from the days of
MediaPlayer:http://mediaplayer.yahoo.com/api/
But it does not seem to be up to date and compatible with the current version.
For example, the setPlayerViewState() is met with this response:
Object YAHOO.MediaPlayer has no method 'setPlayerViewState'
I'd love to work with this product, and access to a reliable API would be great.
I can't seem to find anything up to date for WebPlayer. Does it exist, and if
so, where?

Awesome, thank you. I guess the span wrapper is new, as this was working fine
for a long time...
Much appreciated!

What is the most concise video file type with great quality to play on a web
page. I have a file in .MPG format now and want to convert it to another format
to be able to upload to Office 365 and play.
Thanks
Kathleen OBrien
Sorry about this. I followed the "Look how easy it is" instructions and
created a page containing the following:
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title>test</title>
</head>
<body>
<a href="Audio/Beyond_the_Sea.mp3">Beyond the Sea (mp3 link)</a>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://webplayer.yahooapis.com/player.js"></script>
</body>
</html>
This works fine on both Firefox and IE when uploaded to my ISP web
hosting server. However, when I test it on the server on this laptop,
there's no radio button next to the link, and in Firefox I get asked if
I want to use vlc to play the file; in IE I get a frozen message from
Quicktime asking if I want to reassociate the file type and I then have
to use the Task Manager (kill the process tree) to get rid of it.
It's obviously not the player's fault, but can anyone suggest a way of
making it prioritise itself over local settings for mp3, etc.?
Windows 7 64 bit, running Apache (XAMMP), testing from Dreamweaver 8
