WHere I can find the list of "Category ID" for Yahoo Local? For example,
<Category id="96926243">Pizza</Category>
<Category id="96926236">Restaurants</Category>
This area of Toronto has multiple misspellings of the title "Bridal" which
should be "Bridle" as in horse bridle ... according to a user of my site.

I have an application: AlterNetRides - http://AlterNetRides.com. It's a ride
share service.
I've been using Yahoo! Maps in my application for a number of years. However, I
am picking up the maps from 2006 and want to pull in more current maps.
Can you just point me in the right direction as to how I do this? I use Flash
for displaying the maps.
Also... I have made my application iPhone compatible (I use the Safari Browser
on the iPhone) but my maps won't display. I heard that Adobe and Apple are
trying to work things out. Can you provide any information about that or what I
need to do to make my maps display on an iPhone (migrate to AJAX? <please no...
I have a LOT of work invested in my maps using Flash as it is...>).
Thanks,
Mark Evanoff

The traffic reports are 4 days and 8 hours old. It appears Yahoo Traffic API
Server is not getting updated traffic in the past 4 and half days.
Please check it!
Thanks,
There's no traffic information since June 30. All traffic information
are over 6 days old. Please look into it!
Thanks, [:(]

Hi James,
I'm able to reproduce the issue that you described and have forwarded the
problem to our Ops Engineers. They're looking at it now, but I can't say exactly
when the problem will be resolved.
Thank you for alerting us to the issue.
Best,
~Alexander

Not sure this is the appropriate forum for the Flash API for Yahoo Maps, but the
Flash Developer forum never gets any love. Hopefully this is the correct place
for reporting bugs in the Flash API.
The application I am working with uses the Yahoo Maps API to geocode addresses.
It has been working for over a year on all browsers. Recently I upgraded to FF
3.5 and the geocoding ceased to work.
I have tested this in IE 8, Chrome and Safari and the geocoding works. Why FF
3.5? To me it's the Flash runtime, so I am clueless as to why this would be
specific to the FF 3.5 browser (I have not changed my Flash runtime in a while).
Currently I am working with version 0.9.4 of the AS3 API. My Flash Player is WIN
10,0,22,87 Debug version.
I've been trying to add markers to a map for days now, and have only gotten so
far as to place a marker "randomly" somewhere along the equator (definitely not
where I specify).
CustomPOIMarker is fine to instantiate a marker with, but when I attempt to
"add" the marker to the map using the addMarkerByAddress method, it says that
said method is undefined.
The addMarker method works, but gives me a wonky marker that, again, is placed
on the equator.
None of this I have been able to find in the documentation. The docs say that,
actually, addMarkerByAddress should work fine.
Is this a documentation error, or is finding the appropriate version of the docs
just... difficult? Any help would be appreciated.
I am using the geocoding api in my website.In the website its given as the rate
limit per day is 5000 but am getting the error "limit exceeded" even i haven't
accessed the api more than 5000 times.Can any one tell me why is this issue?
I successfully embedded a yahoo map on a html page. How do I plot certain points
on a map, as an example if I wanted a red dot enclosed in a circle on different
locations in the map. Please help
A friend suggested I use a yahoo application to geocode a data set, but the link
is inactive. Does anyone know if the geocoder is still functional and how to
access it?
My company is a little bit behind the times and we're using yahoo maps with
actionscript 2. I'm loading the markers from xml and placing them by address on
a map by category. Then as the user narrows down the categories the markers are
erased and just markers from that category are loaded. When the back button is
pressed the markers from the previous screen are added again.
All of this works fine. The problem arises it seems, when a certain amount of
markers have been loaded. For some reason when 384 markers have been loaded the
application stops loading new markers and my API key seems to be disabled for a
short amount of time. The 384 markers do not have to all be on the map at the
same time. Does anyone have any insight as to why this might be happening?
Thanks
I have an image defined for a YMarker -- and set a label using addLabel method.
The labels come out - but I would like them centered within the Image . I
defined the image to the proper size (YSize()) ..
How can I "center" the label text within the YImage ?
THanks!
Hello,
I have a application that has multiple locations on one page. A user can select
any locatin and a map on the same page should redraw the map with a marker in
the center. It works for the first location, but anytime a user chooses another
location the map does not re-center on the marker, the map stays at its location
and the marker is drawn of screen. Here is what I am doing:
//debugger;
// Create a map object
map = new YMap(document.getElementById(divId));
//Get the default Map Address from the Web.Config
var defAddress = 'SANTA ANA, California, USA';
if(document.getElementById("defAddress") != null)
defAddress = document.getElementById("defAddress").value;
//Get the map co-ordinates and initialoze position
var mapCoordCenter = map.convertLatLonXY(map.getCenterLatLon());
YLog.initPos(mapCoordCenter); //call initPos to set the starting location
// Specifying the Map starting location and zoom level
map.drawZoomAndCenter(defAddress, 1);
// Add the ability to change between Sat, Hybrid, and Regular Maps
map.addTypeControl();
// Add the zoom control. Long specifies a Slider versus a "+" and "-" zoom
control
map.addZoomLong();
// Add the Pan control to have North, South, East and West directional
control
map.addPanControl();
// Set map type to either of: YAHOO_MAP_SAT, YAHOO_MAP_HYB, YAHOO_MAP_REG
map.setMapType(YAHOO_MAP_HYB);
currentGeoPoint = new YGeoPoint(lat, lon);
placeMarker(currentGeoPoint,loc);

Newbie Question
I have designed a Building Preplan/Survey Database in Filemaker Pro 10 installed
on our Fire Truck Panasonic CF 30's, XP computers. The database is connected
with our Mobile Computer Aided Dispatch system. The system displays building
data and floor plans automatically on the Fire Truck computers for the assigned
responding apparatus.
My goal: I would like to make available to the firefighters a Map view in
Satellite view with a Zoom button, Zoomed to the building, an address marker,
and without all the extra space normally on the standard Yahoo Map. This would
be displayed in the "Webviewer" of the database. The computers are configured
with Net Motion wireless at 1.8 mbs.
Problem: Where to begin… I am hoping for a sample script in Java or other
compatible language. I would need to convert the Physical address (Street number
& name, City & State to what Yahoo Maps will work with.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,
Mike

I am trying to embed a yahoo map in a html page and plot out a few locations on
the map. I am able to embed the map and get markers to appear after a mouse
click on the map. I am wondering if there is a way to get markers to appear as
the page loads. Is there sample code to hard code my locations onto the map.
Also, is there a way to set the map to a particular zoom level before it loads?
I used the setZoomLevel method but that didn't seem to work.
Thanks
I am developing a new web page that uses Yahoo! satellite images and I am
finding that I cannot see the most detailed zoom in my AJAX map that I can see
if I visit maps.yahoo.com.
I am using api.maps.yahoo.com/ajaxymap?v=3.8
Setting the zoom to 1 using drawZoomAndCenter is the best I have figured out.
Would it help for me to delve into the mysteries of Flex and use that version of
the control instead?
I am also interested is doubling the size of the image displayed (each pixel is
magnified to a four pixel square.) Is this possible using any API?
Thank you,

Hello , Am new to yahoo maps ,
I have a question how to create a Custom Marker and Message when using GeoRSS ?!
I went through the documentation and examples , but don't know what to use when
customizing the Markers used from GeoRss Feed !
Also how to auto-refresh the map to load the new content from the RSS feed every
few mins !
Regards
H
I'm getting a 400 error:
[function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed!
HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request
But, if I take the URL and paste it into my browser, the response comes back
perfectly.
How do I troubleshoot this?
Has anyone else experienced the same issue?
Thank you,
Paul
I'm generating a REST map using lat,lon and radius. However; the map returned
seems to be a-bit-bigger than the actual radius requested. I assume that the map
server is simply picking a suitable zoom level for the map to fit in the radius.
In order to position my own markers on a REST-generated map I need to work out
the bounds of the map returned.
Has anyone done this who's willing to share some info?
Im not sure if this is the right place to ask this.
I want to display Maps from Flickr which obviously uses the Yahoo Maps services,
but going through Flickr API's I found nothing where I can display a Geo Tagged
Photo in a Map with a Balloon like the ones you see when you are Mapping your
Photos on Flickr.
OK So, I can get to the Map Display by using Yahoo Map API's by specifying the
Longitude and Latitude but I need to extract some info from Flickr as well for
that Location in a Balloon, like if I tagged and mapped some photo on Flickr,
there is some info for that Photo like Title and Description, that's where I am
stuck!
Can I display a map from Yahoo Maps with a Geo Tag Information in a Balloon?
I know this sounds like a Cesspool Question! ;) but nevermind if you can figure
out what I want to achieve than your help is appreciated!
The following query will return wrong results. The "city" field contains the zip
and the city whereas the "zip" field is empty.
Example:
http://local.yahooapis.com/MapsService/V1/geocode?appid=YD-9G7bey8_JXxQP6rxl.fBF\
GgCdNjoDMACQA--&location=10243,%20Berlin
Result:
<Result precision="zip">
<Latitude>52.512138</Latitude>
<Longitude>13.438400</Longitude>
<Address/>
<City>10243 Berlin</City>
<State>Germany</State>
<Zip/>
<Country>DE</Country>
</Result>
Expected result:
<Result precision="zip">
<Latitude>52.512138</Latitude>
<Longitude>13.438400</Longitude>
<Address/>
<City>Berlin</City>
<State>Germany</State>
<Zip>10243</Zip>
<Country>DE</Country>
</Result>
Hello everybody,
The Yahoo Map Image API is located at: http://developer.yahoo.com/maps/rest/V1/
Given a GPS coordinates, it permits to get a reference (url link) to a static
map image.
My problem is the obtained image is only a "traffic map image", but I would like
to get the satellite image instead.
Has anyone solved this problem already?
Thank you for your precious help
Hi guys,
I want to use the Geocoding API for my Website.
We have the adress,city and country of every user.
Via an extra skript I want to encode the data of the user to Latitude and
Longitude.
Unfortunatly i still haven't figured out how to use the API in a script.
Does anybody have any sample code of how to use the Api in a php script
Thanks
Manuel
Can someone please provide me with a name or contact information for questions
regarding licensing of the batch geocoding api's?
Or... a reference to the original source for geo-coding in use by YMaps.

Gaver
