This was posted on Hercules email
group today by Jay Maynard, and I thought I’d pass it on for those
interested in using it to extend older assemblers to include many of the z/Architecture
instructions which the z390 already supports:.
Stephen Powell's macro library for
z/Architecture instructions for use with z/VM ASMFX and other older assemblers:
http://www.jaymoseley.com/hercules/compiling/spopcodes.htm
With these macro extensions you may
be able to use MVS 3.8 IFX00, z/VM Assembler XF, ASMG etc. to run z390
Mainframe Assembler Coding Contest solutions that depend on some of the newer
instructions for 64 bit GPR’s, 16 64 bit FPR’s, extended translate
instructions such as TROT, etc. I don’t see the decimal floating
point instructions yet but perhaps they are coming too.
