Thank you for the hint, but it seems not that easy.
I get an error in the ZMI screen of my test instance:

Looks like ZMS did not find the "dndlite.jar" file. 
I tried to place the applet in different locations in the "plugins/rad_upload" folder, but without success...

Any further suggestions?

ZMS can use custom input-fields for file-upload:
Configure "rad_input" on config->misc=Fileupload.input
Then the upload field is able to accept Drag/Drop via a Java-Applet.
This feature is just an example/demo for your own "collaborative file upload
objects".
